Red Shift is a London based company which tours nationally to small-scale theatres (under 300 seats) and middle-scale (300+ seats) venues throughout the UK. The company also plays London, and has an enviable reputation established over many years as successful participants in the Edinburgh Festival. The company has toured abroad to Alexandria, Cairo, Santiago de Chile and Hong Kong, under the auspices of the British Council. Red Shift has a very distinctive style which has evolved out of the interests of its founding director, Jonathan Holloway.

Red Shift's work embraces comedy, compelling drama, new plays, literary adaptations and the classic repertoire. It is famous for presenting strong storylines expressed through a committed muscular style of acting. The company has been celebrated in the UK and internationally both for the sophistication of its work and its accessibility to audiences across a broad spectrum. Red Shift has always placed great emphasis on the 'cinematic' use of music, and a quality of design which lifts its production values above the level of most middle-scale production in the UK.
